Quarter 3 2022 Update

Here is my (very late) Quarter 3 update for 2022.

Quick Summary

The main items that happened throughout the previous months include:

  • 9 articles published
  • I bought more shares in a real estate company.

If you missed some of the articles that were published this quarter, I encourage you to check out:

Progress Towards Financial Freedom

progress towards financial freedom

I have been on the financial freedom path for a while, however, I have not documented my progress until now. Instead of using actual values, I am using percentages (with the goal being 100%). I have an initial conservative plan of 20 years and have provided a guide as to my current progress. You can also see my longer-term graph (i.e. the next 20 years) back on my main returns page.

Investments

q3 2022 returns
So this quarter I have kept extending my gains over the S&P 500. Since I created the account in October 2020,
I have gained 66% in my Swedish kapitalförsäkring account. This has outperformed the SPDR S&P 500 ETF by about 48% in the last two years.

However, take note! Most of the growth that you see here is not actually based on the performance of the shares, but instead the SEK/USD currency fluctuations, as all share purchases are from Sweden.

Most of my shares from Canada and the US were purchased around the end of 2020 and the start of 2021.

The exchange rate at the time of purchase (end 2020/start of 2021) was about 1 USD to 8 SEK. But, with all the worldly events, 1 USD has recently touched on 11.2 SEK, which is an increase of about 40%.

So, even if the shares have moved sideways, I still have a 40% gain (on paper), due to the exchange rate.

My goal is to be able to match the fund, while also being able to generate passive income through dividend growth investing.

Quarter 3 2022 Buys and Sells

This quarter I made the following transactions:

Share
Buy/Sell
Reason
Castellum (STO)
Buy
Castellum is one of the Nordics’ largest listed real estate companies. Stock was still low during the period, so I snapped up some shares.

Still have a bit of ammunition ready to pounce when the market realises that inflation is still way out of control.

This quarter sucked. Overall for the 3 months I made a total of 1.09% .

This was totally due to my overallocation in Crowdestor, which has a few problems with payouts on many of their projects.

Here is my Crowdlending breakdown:

Crowdlending Allocation for thewahman

As I have said for many updates now, I don’t have any idea what will happen with the crowdlending platforms, especially Crowdestor.

A lot of their payments are late, and significant advances are scarce. I think Mintos and Reinvest24 will continue to produce consistent results, and I am happy to still be involved with them.

Overall, I only have a very small percentage of my wealth in crowdlending, so this can be more of an experiment rather than anything to contribute to retirement.

However as the months roll on, I think more and more about moving out of crowdlending altogether, and instead focus solely on the sharemarket.

The returns this month suck and I still plan on reducing my exposure to the crowdlending sector. As can be seen through the pandemic, it can be extremely difficult to get regular return on investment. A lot of the platforms put in delays in payments, with a lot of others not paying out at all (and will likely never pay out – FastInvest, Grupeer, etc).

The Sun Exchange – Passive Income from the Sun

The Sun Exchange is the world’s first peer-to-peer solar cell micro-leasing platform (if you use the affiliate link, then you will receive 1 free solar cell on your first purchase!). If you are interested in finding our more about the sun exchange, please check out my full platform review.

Total returns of solar power generated through The Sun Exchange Platform

The last quarter my cells were able to generate 197 kWh of energy (paid out in BTC).

My total energy generated through The Sun Exchange is currently at 2473 kWh,

On average, electric cars consume 34.6 kWh to travel 100 miles. That means that I could drive more than 7100+ miles with the amount of energy I have produced.

For some comparison, with 1 kWh you can, toast 160 slices of bread. So in that regard, I have generated enough power to toast 395,000 slices of bread.

Blog Side Hustle

So this blog is a bit of a side hustle in itself.

My change from Google AdSense to Ezoic has been going great! So far the amount that I am making is only increasing each month 🚀

If you are interested, I wrote a review about what makes Ezoic a great platform.

So basically, when it comes down to it, more site views, more ads, more income.

So, what does that mean? More articles!!

More articles, more impressions, more views, more income. Well that’s the plan anyways.

I’m running a bit of an experiment with keywords and article SEO at the moment, so it will be good to share the results at a much later date.

Socials

I have stopped focusing on Social media due to a lack of time. Although it was helpful, I did opt out of using the scheduling genius Tailwind to help with automation. The main purpose for tailwind was to increase views from Pinterest. However, i did not see the growth that I expected, and chose to focus on organic rankings instead. Here are some statistics:

Let’s keep seeing these go up up up 📈

So that’s all for this month. Sorry it’s been so late!

Thanks for checking out the update, and I encourage you to reach out to me if you want to discuss something further!
